Installing a Patch
 

I have an issue with members not being able to rate threads that have already been rated. I did some searching and found there is a problem in 3.8.4 which makes sense because it just started happening after we upgraded. Anway I downloaded the issueid_28714_showthread.php.patch file. I can't seem to find any information on what to do with it. All I have read about patches is that all I need to do is upload the files and replace the existing ones* no other action necessary. To me that reads like the "patch file" is just a replacement file. This particular patch file has line information containing which lines to remove and which new lines to insert. There isn't any file to overwrite. In this cases the changes are minor and I can figure out which lines to change just by looking at the patch file* but a larger change would be very time consuming. Is there another method that I should be using to "install" this type of patch?
