VB4, 5, 10 Upgrade or stay where you are? Hello to all, As I am not a veteran forum owner, I have had fun so far with playing around with Vbulletin. Yet my problem is I am no coder and I have bought templates for my site. So every time a new release comes out I get worried. I mean you spend so much time focusing on internet marketing and growing your site, so the last thing that I want to do is lose what I have worked so hard for. When you buy a template or skin to make your forum look nice, then you have the problem of the new versions that come out. Members stay at your site for what it is now, not for what the future holds. So by adding new things you may lose members. So my question is: Do you just buy a version of vbulletin, and stay where your at and make it a great site instead of worrying about future releases? But then do you get left behind as your competition may use the new versions that people like better. Also if you make it a great site now, maybe it will not work with new releases of the software? Also security, maybe an older version is not as secure, so what do you do? I understand that Vbulletin has a 4 series coming out. I want to do a site redesign, but its like if I do then will i have to redo it with vb4? It is very hard to figure this all out. I see many sites that use older versions, and have very good success. So I am just curious what you all think? Chris |
