I didn't know what to use as the prefix for this suggestion so feel free to label it whatever you want.

First, I like the integration of the third party instant messaging features like aol instant messenger, etc. Even though I don't use them personally, I find that my members find them not only important but useful, especially how the icons display your instant messaging status in the postbit area of each one of your posts.

Second, I think it would be wise to do this for social media sites, like Facebook, Twitter, Flikr, or Youtube. It might be helpful to add functionality that allows members to add other social media sites as well as the icons that appear in the postbit. Perhaps limiting the number of icons that appear in the postbit would be a way to prevent the postbit from coming unglued from a design perspective.

For example, a twitter or facebook icon would appear in the postbit when a member fills out the twitter or facebook fields in the USERCP.

This, in my opinion, would allow members to connect in further ways that are more relevant today than instant messaging.
