Trash Can Feature!?

As a long time vbulletin customer I first must say that I am very happy with this software. It is hands down the best forum software out there and has been for years.

That being said, I have one MAJOR qualm with vbulletin: The lack of a trash can feature for deleted posts/threads.

Honestly, I sort of just assumed there was something like this until I found out there wasnt. And unfortunately it happened on a fairly valuable thread that my staff accidently deleted.

Now, I have already posted on vb.org and got the standard feedback, so please save your time in responding with "Idiot, why did you let your moderator staff delete threads. or Idiot, just make it so no one can delete threads except you and all staff can only "soft-delete".

Sorry this does not cut it. I have changed the rights so all my staff can only soft-delete threads. Guess what? My forum is now filled with Soft-deleted spam threads that I DO NOT have time to go in and clean up. Allowing the staff to delete is MUCH better for management of the site. I realize only staff can see soft-deleted threads but this is still very cluttered and messy.

The moderator who deleted the thread by accident was trying to rearrange and clean up the thread. But it doesnt really matter what he was doing, as human error just happens.

This feature is very simple and logical:

A moderator, supermoderator, administrator deletes a thread or a post and it goes into the trashcan. Options for the trashcan can be configured as such:

-On/OFF, with default set to on
-Days before trash is cleaned out (25 default, can set to whatever, even 1 day for bigger forums)
-Checkbox for saving Threads or Posts (can check both)

I was a bit suprised to find when my staff emailed me saying "OOOPS, i deleted an important thread" that there was no trash can feature already. For such a mature application I would have thought this were an important feature that was implemented long ago. Instead the only way for me to get a deleted thread back is by doing a seperate VB install and pulling the thread from there, or doing some DB query magic on a backup.

So what do you say, can we see this in the next release? :)

Thanks!
