Article Manager, multi view on home page

PhpWS - 1.6.2

I'm having trouble getting Article Manager to display more than one row on the home page. There are a total of 6 categories in the site I have AM set to display 3 columns and to show 6 articles on the home page, grouping in enabled. But I can never get more articles to display than the number of columns I set AM to. I have peaked at the templates and it sure looks like I should be getting the second row but alas I am not.

Any help would be much appreciated, thank in advance.
