Conversion to UTF-8 (Again) My current situation: MySQL 5 charset: latin1 Database charset: latin1 vBulletin Charset: ISO-8859-1 Now, I tried dumping, iconv, replacing and importing, but it still messed up characters like "©" (following this guide: http://megaz.arbuz.com/2009/04/09/co...letin-to-utf-8) My next idea was to just run "ALTER TABLE * CONVERT TO CHARACTER SET utf8;" on all tables. After re-importing the language pack, changing the charset in the Admin Panel and using utf8 in config.php, all special characters look just fine, I can post and read Japanese (and it doesn't get converted into html entities). Am I missing something here, or why is everyone struggling so bad? Has anyone else taking this simple approach?! |
