Buying a domain name
 

I want to purchase my domain name, but I don't know where to get it from, or how to put it into my host when I get the host. I am planning on hosting with hostgator. Last time i made a website, i was only 14 years old and I didn't know what i was doing, so i told my host to buy the domain name for me and than put it on my site with him and i will pay him. He did it all for me and installed it onto my host for me than i paid him. After a year or two with him, i sold my website, and my host scared the hell out of me and told me he bought the domain name so it is his site. I was scared as hell because he did, but than after like 5 minutes he said he was joking and gave me the info so i could sell the site. I want to get my domain name and do it myself this time. If anyone could please let me know how to do it and maybe some good sites to buy it from. I am sure it is not to hard and i should definitley be able to do it myself now. :)
