Through the FlipFont application, users can easily connect to an online selection of fonts, choose the typeface, purchase the font and safely download and install it to their mobile phone. The FlipFont application also lets users browse fonts currently installed on their phone and select a typeface from the list to be used by the phone. Prior to FlipFont, mobile phone users had few options for customizing the fonts on their mobile phone, short of complex and dangerous and often illegal hacks and system modifications that ran the risk of damaging the phone. Monotype Imaging has released a variety of specially engineered fonts available for license through the FlipFont.mobi Web site. Fonts were chosen for their high levels of display quality and ability to express themes in an appealing, engaging way.
