vB Scalability

Hello,

I'm curious as to the scalability of vBulletin 3.8.1. I'm trying to create a few thousand forums and associated groups manually at a depth of three. (Main -> Sub -> Forums*3000).

If I create only a few and run the forum counter maintenance script (whatever exactly does this do?) and the forums/groups/permissions all show up in the admincp.

If I create a few thousand forums/groups, I can see all of the groups in the admincp but not the forums and not the groups in the permissions frame. I also get a blank frame when I try to create forums/groups in the admincp afterwards. Deleting all of the forums/groups allows me to add them in the admincp again as usual without getting the blank frame.

Does vBulletin have a limitation somewhere that fails silently? Any thoughts on what I might have missed? For more context, you can read my more technical post at vbulletin.org.

Much thanks.
