my.cnf settings on my dedicated server
 

Hi All,

I run my forum on a dedicated server (DELL R200: Intel QuadCore Xeon X3360 2.83Ghz) with 8GB of memory and it runs on Linux. The MYSQL version is 5.0.77-community and PHP is 5.2.5

Ive just checked the my.cnf file and it only contains the following lines. What could I add to increase performance? Also, why does the max-connections have "set-variable in front when other peoples my.cnf files doesnt?
