Difference between build_new_post() and datamanager
 

Hi,
Im new to coding and still learning the ropes! Ive created a mod that uses Thread_FirstPost datamanager, however someone has mentioned build_new_post()

Which is the best one to use when wishing to create a new thread? Are there any main differences between the two? Also is there anywhere I can find further info? (Ive tried vbulletin.com / vbulletin.org and google!)
