How to I make use of wasted space in new message window?

My entire forum is run at 1000px wide so I need to make use of all the space I have. Not to mention there's a LOT of picture posting, so more space is always good when entering msgs.

How can I make 100% use of width and height of the message text box inside the table it resides in??
