Consider a baseband signal x(t) having a bandwidth of 5 KHz. This signal is modulated to obtain the following signal:

a) Write the general expression in terms of Fourier Transform for the resulting spectrum of the signal 6 marks
b) Draw the approximate magnitued spectrummof the modulated signal. Show the LSB, USB and the Double-Sideband Bandwidth ( ) in your diagram. 9 marks

a) Identify the 3 transmitter masks and mention the 3 popular wireless technologies that each of these belong to. 9 marks
b) Which of the practical signal(s) is (are) in violation of these masks and why? 5 marks

a) Briefly describe what is meant by a battery electric vehicle (BEV). 2 marks
b) What is the Tesla Electric car project? 2 marks
c) Briefly describe the “Bricking” problem with the battery system of the Tesla produced car. 3 marks
d) Briefly discuss how the infrastructure requirements and the battery problems can make adoption of the battery electric vehicle on mass scale a problem.3 marks
e) Please provide references used to extract information for this question. 2 marks

This question is related to the futuristic use of ICTs (driverless cars).
a) Briefly discuss the difference between the Google Driverless Car project and that of the University of Harvard’s in the UK from navigation technology used in the two projects. 6 marks
b) List at least 4 benefits of the Driverless Car project. 4 marks
c) Please provide references used to extract information for this question. 2 marks
Q7: 15 marks
This question is related to the case studies part of your course.
a) Consider the Saudi Arabia ICT case study that is part of your Block 3. Explain in your own words the ICT contribution to the national GDP of KSA. Can ICT help diversify the economy away from total dependence on oil and mining in KSA. 4 marks
b) Briefly discuss how requests for service in re¬mote areas are handled by CITC as per the above case study. 4 marks
c) Select a new case study dealing with the use of ICTs in solving various social, cultural and developmental issues either in the Middle East or the developing world. Write a short paragraph explaining why you selected your case study. You should include the case study as part of your TMA work. 7 marks
