Trying To Make Database Smaller: Attachments
 

Hello everyone,

I'm looking to make my database smaller by deleting some attachments. I've already deleted all the threads/post/logs that I can afford to so now I'm looking to delete some attachments or at least pull them out of the database. Our site quite working one day because of the database size on the server. So we are just looking to tidy it up a little, but here is the problem: Our server runs in safe mode because it's a shared server I guess, so we can't pull the attachments out. Is there another way of doing this or is there a way to delete some attachments that are xx days old? We currently have attachments turned off so no one can add to it, which has caused our avatars to quit working even if you link them from another URL.

Would it be beneficial to post in the "Server Configuration" section and ask for an optimization request? I've never done this before and don't really know where to start or if I should even do it. Thanks for your time in advance.
