BCHR | Bahrain: Dozens of Protestors Arrested and Injured on the 2nd A 15-03-13 03:24 PM http://bahrainrights.hopto.org/BCHR/.../03/Sit-In.jpg Photo: Protestors Sit-In Facing Riot Police Date: 14th March 2013 The Bahrain Center for Human Rights (BCHR) expresses its grave concern over many reports and cases received revealing severe human rights violations and excessive use of force across the villages and cities of Bahrain. The 14th Feb Youth Collation called for civil disobedience and multiple protests across Bahrain on the 2nd anniversary of the foreign GCC Peninsula Shield occupying Bahrain, which came mainly from Saudi Arabia and the UAE aiming to squash the pro-democracy movement in 2011. Those forces are still in Bahrain, famously occupying the area that once was the pearl roundabout before it was demolished in March 2011. http://bahrainrights.hopto.org/BCHR/...03/Image-2.jpg Photo: Educational Institution “Al-Khamees School” Was Extensively Teargased The call for wide spread protests has put the Bahrain Authorities under alert and the presence of police forces were allocated across the country. Since early in the morning, many crowded villages were collectively punished with a large amount of teargas. Places including mosques, schools (Khamis School) and construction sites (Juffair constructions) were also teargased causing suffocation to school children and migrant workers. Protesters have established roadblocks of their own to prevent riot police from driving at high speed into the villages. This YouTube video taken today (14th March 2013) is an example of how the police use armored vehicles to run over protesters (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lxCyTXYefs). http://bahrainrights.hopto.org/BCHR/...03/Image-3.jpg Photo: Policeman Trespassing and Raiding a House by Climbing Onto the Roof Dozens of protestors were arbitrary arrested, houses were illegally raided, and both minor and major injuries were documented – particularly on the faces and heads of protestors by using teargas canisters and shotgun. The security forces consistently aim at the upper parts of the body in order to cause maximum damage to protesters, and it has lead to the death of many protestors. This YouTube video of a protestor raising a victory sign in front of riot police he was almost shot at a close range with teargas canister (Watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZn1NerRVzI). http://bahrainrights.hopto.org/BCHR/...03/Image-4.jpg Photo: Severe Injuries Due to Excessive Use of Force Left: Injury on the Calf Muscle Due to C4 Canister Right : Direct Shotgun Blast to the Face The hospitals in Bahrain remain militarized since the security forces occupied them in March 2011. Injured protestors and their families fear seeking treatment in the hospitals, which may lead to severe complications including death, if they are not treated well. Today, a young protestor was shot in the head and hospitalization. After he was treated for the abuses he received at the hands of the police, he was issued a summons from the public prosecution. http://bahrainrights.hopto.org/BCHR/...03/Image-6.jpg Photo: Young boy being treated after suffocation of teargas http://bahrainrights.hopto.org/BCHR/...03/Image-7.jpg Photo: Businesses being attacked with teargas http://bahrainrights.hopto.org/BCHR/...03/Image-8.jpg Photo : Teargas Canisters used http://bahrainrights.hopto.org/BCHR/...03/Image-9.jpg Photo: Shotgun Canister which was used http://bahrainrights.hopto.org/BCHR/...3/Image-10.jpg Photo : Protestor being arrested http://bahrainrights.hopto.org/BCHR/...3/Image-11.jpg Photo: Large numbers of riot police attacking a village The BCHR calls on the United States, the United Kingdom, the UN and all other allies and international institutions to put pressure on the Government of Bahrain to stop its use of excessive force in response to the continued peaceful protests, and to consider a meaningful solution to resolve the persistent political issues of instability in the country. The BCHR calls on the European Governments and other ally Governments to Bahrain to stop supplying the government of Bahrain with arms that are used against peaceful protesters, which cause severe injury and death among them.
