Q about subscribed threads new posts/last viewed post Q: how is the last post viewed in each subscribed thread remembered by vBulletin? Is it stored server side or in a cookie on the forum member's computer? And if it's server side, is it done in 1 file or 1 file per thread that it needs to remember? Reason I ask: I don't own a forum but I'm just a member of one (a big one) using vB 4.2 where the admin is constantly dropping the ball. Most of the issues from their most recent mess up have been resolved but some users such as myself are complaining that our subscribed threads listing keeps bolding threads to indicate there are new posts (in the thread/s) since our last visit - when in fact there are not. I only noticed the problem when I moved from my desktop computer to my netbook. And later, when I moved back to my desktop I noticed the same thing. It seems to be okay if I only use 1 computer. That made me think the info must be stored on my computer, in a cookie - but then I thought about it some more and realized it was never previously a problem switching between computers, so am now not sure. I've cleared my cookies on both computers and it didn't seem to fix it. Is there something the forum admin can do? |
