Upgrading to 3.8 from forum based the web based
 

I'm going to be upgrading from 3.7 to 3.8 soon... The forum is currently the only thing the site has and is run from the root, index.php...

I'd like to run a website with a menu link to the forum... The forum will not be run embedded as there is to much trouble with this method... So I've been reading... More hassle than its worth...

So what I will do is have a drop down menu system within the html pages and will use similar menu in a side panel on the forum with links back to the html pages....

So I'm wondering the best method for doing this... Should I upgrade the current 3.7 then move the forum to a sub-directory... It has a few templates installed too.. OR... should I just do an install with 3.8 into a forum subdirectory and update links, install templates etc afterwards...

Any ideas on this or even a better method of doing this???
