I want to know how the archive works.

Main points I'm curious about...

1) When are new threads/posts added to the archive? Is there a way to change this setting??

2) What is its purpose?

3) I use an add-on that can easily change the meta keywords by each forum. However, when I change/update them, they don't change in the HTML 'source' of the corresponding forum. A little confusing... hopefully you get what I mean!
