Forum Structure mybb 1.6

I am having a very difficult time finding an answer to this problem. I am currently running MYBB 1.6 and using impex to convert to vb 4.2. Everything transfers over nicely but the forums don't maintain the structure I had on the mybb site. ie Parent forum/child. When I ran impex on my test site I spent the better part of 6 hours sorting out the forum orders and placing the sub forums in the proper parent. Isn't there an easier way to do this or did I not backup the database correctly.

I have hunted all over and just can't seem to find what I am doing wrong.
