Forum Display New Posts as actual Posts
 

We had a feature on our old PHPBB forums where a user could click a button and see all the new *posts* since their last visit to the forums.

[Somehow the forums knew when they had last been active, and it displayed any activity in the form of *posts* since that time. The assumption is they remained logged in.]

I see the tiny little "New Posts" link at the top, but it doesn't show new posts. It shows threads that contain new posts.

How can I jimmy rig that link into something that displays a listing of actual posts instead?

Very similar to the advanced search option to display as "threads" or "posts".
