CMS content.php is very slow Hi, content.php is really slow. It was so slow I had to get the hosting company to increase the timeout on MySQL as the database server kept “going away”. I get that it's something to do with the caching as the first time it loads it takes a while (can be 10 seconds or so) but then it's fairly quick on subsequent loads. So, I am assuming this is to do with the cache but should it really take that long? The server is not short of RAM or CPU power (I know the hosting company very well and they do not oversell resources). My questions are: 1. How often does it update the cache? 2. Is there anything that can be done to speed things up without hacking the source code? This is not a high traffic site (at least initially) so I am worried almost every visitor will get a slow loading content.php Note: All other pages are relatively quick. It is just content.php. The other main pages like forum.php, blog.php, calendar.php have no issues at all. Thanks. |
