Major upgrade from 3.0.17
 

I'm about to bite the bullet and begin upgrading a large forum (over 3 million posts) from 3.0.17 to 3.8.2.

Since its bypassing many interim versions, I'm not sure what I should expect. What can I do to prepare to minimize problems and ensure a smooth and clean upgrade?
