Al-Wefaq secretary general, Sheikh Ali Salman, expressed in the cable his most honest condolences to the ambassadors and the families of the victims. He said that residents of both colonies have enjoyed very long-standing ties with the Bahraini community which has welcomed them from some hundred years ago in their second home. We appreciate their contribution in the Bahraini development, and we seek to ensure their rights, and to protect them from any attack, he said. Salman also expressed refusal of violence from any side, and emphasized that the opposition's movement is a nonviolent one that demands legitimate universal rights through a power-sharing political system in which the people are the source of all powers.
