The Bahrain Center for Human Rights sends out a critical warning in which it expresses its concern as a result of receiving documented information about the Authorities in Bahrain reinstating the official excessive violence against religious liberties with the approach of the commemoration of the 'Ashura' rituals by the Shiite Muslims, which are usually received by the Authority with a hostile media and security alert, and threats towards those who criticize the Authorities during the commemoration of the religious ceremonies or those who address the political situation through the podiums and forums of this occasion.

What increases this concern is the Authority's reinstatement of the violent measures in confronting and restricting those religious events and ceremonies, such as had happened in 2011, as an example attacking several religious processions and gatherings or targeting the religious institutes, mosques and facilities by demolishing or vandalizing them. [1]
This reinforces that the intention of targeting this is to terrorize and remind of the systematic repression of religious gatherings with the approach of their annual commemoration which is deep-rooted for centuries.
On Friday 02 Nov 2012 the Riot Police attacked a gathering of a Shiite Muslim religious ceremony, by using the internationally prohibited shotgun pellets and teargas bullets in an excessive and unwarranted manner resulting in a number of wounded and injured, among them children, in addition to a number of people who suffocated [2].
Details of the incident indicate that on Friday evening, 2 November 2012, while the people of Samaheej area, in Muharraq Governorate east of Manama, were celebrating a Shiite Muslim religious ceremony, which the people have been celebrating for decades in the same manner by holding religious ceremonies and distributing sweets, the Riot Police startled them and fired several teargas bullets and shotgun pellets at them, which resulted in a number of injured and wounded.

The BCHR documented several shotgun pellet injuries, in addition to a number of suffocations, among them children and elderly.

The Riot Police did not only violently attack the religious gathering, it also chased those participating in it through the alleys and streets of the area, using more teargas which covered the area's different neighborhoods.

The Bahrain Center for Human Rights hold the Authority the full responsibility for practicing excessive and baseless violence, and demands putting an end to targeting religious liberties and to stop the sectarian discrimination, and it puts the UN Bodies before its duties related to protecting fundamental rights and liberties and especially practicing religious liberties. The BCHR also puts the entire international community before the gravity of the deviations of the Authority
continuing in its repressive tactic with the approach of commemorating 'Ashura' religious ceremonies which are known for their mass presence, and any targeting of those coming gatherings and religious ceremonies in any form, especially through official violence or sectarian media attack will cause dangerous digressions that reinforce the instability in Bahrain and extends the Authority's involvement in the blatant violations of human rights and its persistence on it. Based on the aforesaid, the BCHR believes the following: • Hold the Authorities in Bahrain the full responsibility for targeting religious gatherings by using excessive violence and demands it to initiate an unbiased investigation in the incident which resulted in several wounded peaceful civilians. Stopping all forms of media terrorism, threats and targeting or through violence against the right of practicing religious liberties, as this is a fundamental right guaranteed by local and international conventions endorsed by the Authorities in Bahrain. • It is necessary for all UN Bodies and Human Rights Council to carry out their duty by pressurizing the Authorities in Bahrain and urging it respect all human rights. • The Authority in Bahrain has to put an end to practicing violence and using shotgun pellets in a vicious manner against the unarmed civilians.
