Xenforo 1.1.3 to vBulletin 4.2.0 conversion

A friend of mine is using vBulletin and he recommended it strongly. I am sold and just when I was about to purchase a license, I remembered to look around for the conversion workflow. Turns out to be a nightmare and I'm not sure I can do it. I have tried doing it on my friend's backup site to no avail. It simply won't work.

Do you have any suggestions on what I should do? I really want to transfer to vBulletin but I can't afford to lose my site due to a bad transfer. I only have one shot at this and it must be as perfect as possible. I have no problem losing the private messages and other minor things.

I also have no problem doing multi-stage transfers, such as Xenforo > Some other forum software > vBulletin. I also can't hire third parties to do the job. The database contains very sensitive information.

Any help will be much respected.
