Requirements list Hi all, I want to start a forum but my project has very specific requirements and I was wondering if vBulletin meets them. Please let me know, thanks: 1. Nested sub-sections - I need to have about 6 layers of nested sub-sections. Is this possible? Like main category -> sub category -> subsub category -> subsubsub category -> etc -> thread 2. Set up a UI to let a user auto-create a sub-section. For example, if the user types "polar bears", the app can check if "polar bears" is a valid item for creation via some database or ajax call, and then a sub-section would be created for polar bears under a predetermined parent sub-section. The user doesn't have to be a moderator. 3. Allow users to group sub-sections or subscribe only to a group of sub-sections. So users can easily see updates in his/her group of interested sub-sections. 4. Modify the look and feel of the site beyond pre-made templates. For example let's say I wanted rounded corners. 5. Change the sub-section icon to a custom image via a database. For example, if the sub-section was called "polar bears", instead of a forum icon, it would have a polar bear image. 6. Do AJAX scripting to query services like Amazon web services with drop-down recommendation and auto-completion. 7. Create/read/write custom fields in databases. e.g. if user creates the "polar bears" sub-section using UI above, a field called "polar bears images" might be created. 8. Auto append text to thread names upon creation. 9. Finally, basically how much of the forum is modifiable? Are they just php pages that I can edit to add any custom looks or functionalities? Thanks! |
