Forum Deleting users from database directly I think I may have broke something. We had an influx of hundreds of spam posts today. So I went in and mass deleted them all, forum by forum. Then I slapped myself in the head because I hadn't chosen "Delete as Spam" and "Banned" the users. I only deleted the threads they created. That means they were still active users on the forum and could post again. So I went into the database using phpmyadmin .... found the "user" table .... checked the checkboxes next to the most recent registrants who were obvious spam bots: (usernames like xjjxjxj2j2, etc). and then clicked the "Delete" button at the bottom of the page. It asked confirm Yes / No? I said Yes, then it confirmed those items deleted. However, I was right. While I was doing that they had posted new threads. So I went to delete the thread as Spam. This time selecting Ban user. The forum replied "No punitive action could be taken because selected users are Guests". I assumed this is because I had deleted their account in the meantime. However now I look at the bottom of my site and I see this (see image). I am concerned there are ghost user remnants still in the system. Did I not delete them fully? There are at least 6 users "online" that have no username .... Note: I did rebuild all the counters after doing the delete. Attached Images |
