how do you ACTUALLY keep someone banned?
 

Hi,

There's a banned member who keeps coming back... I have everyone IP stored...and I ban by NIC MAC address and IP adress... But I mean I just suspect the returns from their style, so basically tbey're not banned now - they're BACK! :(
And of course, I never re-ban without evidence based purely on their posting style...as that is considered bad practice in most online communities.

IPs and MAC addresses can easily be changed or spoofed this doesn't work very well...And Idon't think serial numbers of PCs would work well either, since these can be changed easily in the registry files...

So, would there be an effective way to ban someone? (such as somehow finding all the PCs, phones, etc. in their local area and banning anyone who registers with them/ osts with these details?

BTW, I will not name which site I moderate as that would be pretty stupid :)

I would appreciate any help! Ughh you all know I think how it is...you get trolls in all communities- a few with dogged persistence 'returning' after they're banned...
