Outrageous Crimes Behind ABrutal Security Cordon on Eker

The regime forces applied a brutal security cordon on El-Eker area, south of Manama. Many inhumane attacks against its residents are being reported from there; whilst, the regime forces completely isolate El-Eker from all other adjacent areas setting cruel checkpoints at its entrances.

El-Eker is tightly isolated by the regime forces since last night. Yet, all entrances are blocked and nobody is allowed to enter the area. Many human right violations and crimes are being perpetrated against its residents.

One woman fell unconscious due to the terrifying raids against houses in El-Eker. The regime forces vandalized, smashed and destroyed private properties of households; who were subjected to the forces' outrageous harassments and verbal abuses.

The citizens in EL-Eker sought for help after a status of emergency was unofficially imposed by the regime forces. The level of danger is very high in El-Eker due to the terrorism and horror imposed by the forces who are actively implementing the nonstop repression approach.

More than 100 citizens were killed since 14 February 2011, thousands injured, thousands of houses raided and many others severely beaten. Yet, just and fair investigations have not been carried out. It has become a daily official behavior aiming to spread terror, perpetrate crimes and violations against pro-democracy protesters.

A Number of citizens have been arbitrarily arrested in el-Eker after they were severely beaten. Others; including children, were also beaten by the forces.

Yet, the forces continue perpetrating many outrageous violations against citizens in EL-Eker. A series of illegal house raids, along with assaults, and verbal abuses are happening while writing this statement.

The regime forces are practicing collective punishment against the area and all of its residents. Such security campaign is unjustifiable and unlawful.

The regime is exploiting an incident in which one security personnel has been killed to carry out a collective maltreatment campaign in order to distribute false accusations, through sham procedures, against innocent people without any investigations.

Al-Wefaq pointed out that criminals and killers of martyrs have not been held accountable and are still in their positions, which proves that the security system is based on a revengeful policy that targets its opponents and abuses citizens suppressing freedoms.
