Forum Domain URL not directing to specified homepage
 

In the Admin control panel, I have my Homepage url option set to 'http://www.forumname.com/forums/home.php'

When entering 'www.forumname.com' into the browser's address bar (like most people usually do), they will be directed to the 'http://www.forumname.com/forums/' and not the homepage specified. My homepage contains some important news and information that I would like users and guests to see. How can I make it the 'default' page?
