What's the purpose of the Facebook App?
 

Sorry, for my ignorance, I'm just learning about the Facebook App, and only got Facebook Connect set up on my vB4.2 site last week.

So what's the purpose of the app and how is it better than a fan page? Looking at the vBulletin.com Facebook App, it just seems like the forum lite, but clicking on things keeps you mainly in Facebook. Shouldn't the goal be to bring people to your site proper? Are you able to put ads within the app? Is it possible to control who sees ads by usergroup?

Looks like the app was a $99 add-on. Is it still available?
