07-05-12 07:21 PM Bahraini opposition: Nabeel Rajab is a prisoner of conscience and must be released immediately http://alwefaq.net/index.php?show=ne...rticle&id=6445 The opposition parties are watching closely, with great concern, the regimes response to the uprising, that continues to target peaceful protests and employs it's entire military and security forces to attack those voices calling for freedom. The militias, protected by the police, are once again attacking peaceful neighbourhoods in Bani Jamrah, in a dastardly attempt to ignite sectarian tensions. Such an eventuality will have devastating consequences on the Bahraini Community, including the regime itself. The government continues to threaten the opposition's political and religious establishments, whilst the regime works to guarantee it's impunity by falsely enforcing the community into sectarian and political conflicts. The unfair trials of Zainab Al-Khawaja, Masooma Al-Sayyid and Maryam Al-Khazzaz, who protested peacefully in front of the Ministry of Interior, prove the fraudelent nature of the government's so-called democratic reforms. They are a whitewash tool used to mislead the international community and media, to hide the prohibition of freedom of speech in Bahrain. The opposition parties are concerned about the systematic escalation of violence, through the arrest of Nabeel Rajab, President of the Bahrain Centre for Human Rights and Director of the Gulf Centre for Human Rights, for freely expressing his opinion via Twitter. This is yet further proof and confirmation of the absence of freedom of speech in Bahrain. The opposition parties express their full solidarity with human rights defender, Nabeel Rajab and call for his immediate release. The opposition warns the regime against their persistent policy of arresting political activists and human rights defenders, who are expressing the will of the people against tryannical policies. The opposition parties strongly believes that the arrest of Nabeel Rajab and other political and human rights leaders will not stop the 14th February revolution. This movement of the people, calling for democracy, has continued for more than one year and is revealing to the world the true tyrannical face of the Bahrain regime. We call on the international community to condemn the actions of this regime, pressure it to respect its international and local commitments and to engage in a serious dialogue to resolve the political crisis. 6th May 2012 Manama, Bahrain Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society National Democratic Action Society (Waad) Nationalist Democratic Assembly Society Alekha National Society National Democratic Assemblage (Unitary) المصدر... __DEFINE_LIKE_SHARE__ |
