Over the past few months we've been having problems with our website. There are times when you access our forum and its the fastest web site out there, then there are times you'd swear it takes 20 40 seconds to load the page.
After several calls to our ISP they tell us " The bottom line is that the forum is loading so slow because of the database size, it is almost 1 GB +. In order to increase the loading time, please try to shrink it and optimize the queries." Today like other days I've received over 300 of the following errors: "mysql_connect() [<a href='function.mysql-connect'>function.mysql-connect</Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading authorization packet', system error: 0 /home/vg005web08/45/34/1033445/web/forum/includes/class_core.php on line 311" My question is: Is a database of 1 GB + in size really two big? I was thinking that the reason our site loads slow was because the database are located on 2 different servers. Some additional information: Our site has 2 databases; 1st one is for our vBulletin forum (1GB +) and the 2nd one is for our gallery (25MB). Note: Database #2 and our forum are on one server while database #1 is on a different server. We are at vBulletin v3.8.4. Our URL is: http://baylinerownersclub.org/forum Thanks in advance. -Frank __DEFINE_LIKE_SHARE__ |
