I was hoping to be able to reduce costs and host my own server in a couple of years moving into our city location being around the new Telstra 100Mbps network, however; it will only have a 2Mbps upload, being what hosting is all about after all, dragging out of the server, not downloading too it. It seems it will still be under cable also, not the fibre optic network. It seems primarily for Telstra to sell their new digital TV and bundle it with Internet that will achieve those same speeds, obviously depending on community usage being cable, though still guaranteed in excess of 50Mbps, which is impressive to say the least.
Looks like my outlook to host my own server at home just died... with the business package for high speed uploads beginning around $600 a month... screw that.
