CMS Custommzie the CMS sections - display 'x' articles from each category in a section

This is something I'm really interested in, and that's something that will improve vBulletin CMS and will allow us to use the CMS for portals etc'.

At first, we defenitly need a way to customize and change the layout of a section \ the index or a category without having to change the code \ query the db our self.

one strong example I have - (this relies on a lot of major portals, this functionality is a must have in the CMS)

lets say I want to display in a section layout 'x' amount of articles from each category under the section.

for example -

Support (section)
cats' -
Windows

Linux

Hardware

Games

when entering section Support the display will be
5 latest articles from the section, never mind from which category (newest)
and under it the display will be separated to articles from each category -
4 latest articles of Windows, Then Linux and so on, so all the categories will have their "place" in the section layout.

Lets say I'm building a portal, I will want to have many sections, Tech, Support, Cellular, Gadgets, Sports, Movies etc', I should have the ability the change layouts for each section in a generic way, so I won't have the same layout and I will display what I want, most important I will have the ability to decide what to display in each section, articles from any category I decide in anyway order (newest, most popular, top viewed etc') I want.
