I run a mapping website that gets a LOT of "work in progress" attachments. My host has set a hard limit of no more than 1024 files in a single folder, and the forum's attachment folder structure has spread that out well, except for the fact that some of my users are approaching the 1024 attachments threshold.
I've already modified my core to separate the attachments from the thumbnails, thus buying me more time...but I'm going to need another solution soon.
I noticed there is a way to promote a forum post to a CMS article...Does the CMS have a separate folder structure from the attachments system? and would I then be able to prune the posts that get promoted to articles? A lot of my more prolific posters also post tutorials and things like that, which would be much better as CMS articles.
I am running 4.0.3 PL1 of the forum currently. Any insight as to my file storage issue and whether or not the CMS suite upgrade would help me alleviate that would be VERY welcomed.
