Quote: Users in vBulletin may also belong to multiple usergroups. This is one method of creating exceptions to your permission scheme. For example, you may have a user who belongs to group X, but needs to have access to the few extra options (such as attaching files to posts) given by group Y. You can make X this user’s primary group and make Y a secondary group. The basic idea here is that if a user is in multiple groups and they specify conflicting permissions, the greater permission overrides. Thus, a yes will always override a no and a larger number will override a smaller number. So let me explain how I'm trying to get this to work on my forum. User 1 is a member of Usergroup A User 2 is a member of Usergroup B Usergroup A is a VIP group where the users have more permissions than users n Usergroup B (signature/avatar/larger PM inbox etc.). Usergroup B is for normal members with limited permissions. Usergroup C has access to a secret forum. I want to give Usergroups A & B access to the secret forum upon requesting access. So I add Users 1 & 2 to Usergroup C and make it a secondard Usergroup. However neither User A or B can access the secret forum. Do I need to make it so that Usergroup C is their primary usergroup and that their current Usergroup becomes a secondary Usergroup? Any help greatly appreciated. __DEFINE_LIKE_SHARE__ |
