I'm running vb4 CMS on a managed dedicated server. I have very little knowledge about configuring or maintaining a server so I have been relying on my host's tech support team to pinpoint the cause of repeated httpd failures. They converted the database from IamSAM to InnoDS which seemed to help speed things up a little, but didn't stop the httpd failures. After several days of monitoring the server I was advised to disable the recent forum posts forum block and widget, that did stop the httpd failures.
The forum members really liked that feature so I would like to be able to enable it again. I had it set to retrieve posts made within 1 day with a cache of 15 minutes.
I had also tried to optimize the setup by disabling several of the other features per instructions found here http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...on+information and also use Amazon as a cdn for many of the static images to lighten the load as much as possible.
I'm thinking about moving to a more powerful server but would prefer to find a way to make our existing server work with vb4. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
