The problem : I have an excerpt from an article (because of copyright rules, I am not reproducing the entire article) and I promote that posting from an RSS feed or forum posting to my CMS page. The first image resizes beautifully and the excerpted text shows as expected. However, the user's experience is:
a) "I like the excerpt of this article, I would like to read the complete article" and b) clicks on "Read More" and c) instead of being brought to the original article (an external link) the user is brought to the original vBulletin posting which is only an excerpt and so they must then d) click again to get to the full article e) click twice more to get back to where they started The solution : In the PUBLISHING OPTIONS section, when the "Display Full Article in Section Page (Y/N)" is set to "No" (which forces the "Read More" function) an option should be available to direct the resulting "Read More" link to go either to an external web address or default to the original vBulletin posting. Workaround I've tried : Set "Display Full Article" to "Yes" and put in my own "Read More" link to the external article. Problem. The image does not resize (which, by itself, is not the end of the world) and the user, more importantly, still has one more click before they actually get to where they wanted to go and two clicks to get back. __DEFINE_LIKE_SHARE__ |
