Styles Less convoluted HTML?

Back in vB 3.x styling could be rather difficult. Yes* the design was based on tables and little CSS* which certainly made a challenge* but the HTML was also convoluted and complex -- tables inside divs inside tables with spans and everything scattered all over the place. Fighting through the mess to achieve what you wanted was nearly impossible.

With the new CSS-based layout* I was hoping some of the troubles would be alleviated and customization would be easier. But look at the HTML layout of the box containing the post content (not username and postcount* just the post text):

So we have a blockquote inside a div inside another div inside another div inside another div inside another div. Each div has exactly the same bounding box -- they cover exactly the same region. (Well* there's a bit of fudging to get the signature's div down to the bottom* so there is a bit of layout involved.)

As an experiment* I used firebug to tweak the above HTML and see if I could achieve the same layout with simpler HTML. Here's what resulted:

Much simpler. I could even get rid of the blockquote and use blockquotes for quote tags instead* making even more semantic sense and getting rid of yet another layer of tags. Then the extra bbcode_* divs could be reduced down into a span or two.

Please* don't make it painful for us to style the forums. Can't this convoluted HTML be reduced down to something sensible?</div> __DEFINE_LIKE_SHARE__
